gone from our sight...
but never our memory.

gone from our hearing...
but never our hearts.

gone from our touch...
but their presence is felt.

and the love that they gave us
never departs.

Stoli was a special boy, brought to me in a very special way.

There are so many things I miss out on everyday in life but there's one thing I will miss forever, that's the sincere kindness Stoli brought to my heart and home. I am convinced that he was here with me for such a short time only because of the enormous amount of giving that came from this beautiful boy while he was here. His unique purpose had been fulfilled!

Stoli was such a pleasurable surprise to have. He was all bullmastiff, head to toe, inside and out. He brought smiles to my heart and comfort to my soul. His cautious temperament along with his bold appearance brought a realistic appreciation to the term "demands respect".

Stoli's misfortune seemed to follow him throughout his life. First, at only a year and a half old when his owner passed away in a fatal vehicle incident. I quickly welcomed Stoli and his lovely littermate sister Naughty  into my home as the offspring of my amazing Cassanova.  They both immediately stole my heart. His puppyish softness and big, beautiful, brown eyes were irresistible, there's nothing about Stoli that anyone wouldn't have fallen head over heels over!!

Nearly a year later, at only three years young, Stoli's body gave in to degeneration due to unknown causes and he lost capabilities of his rear mobility. Together we managed and struggled. Stoli's heart gave us both the strength to follow thru with this handicap and what was to be ahead of us. Friends from all over supported Stoli, reaching out in so many ways. Stoli brought together friends from near and far... all with the hope that he could overcome this horrendous hurdle.

Stoli was taken from us all too soon, too young.  On March 23rd, 2009, I put Stoli to rest, defeated by the trauma he suffered. He was stolen from right under my nose.  His time came before I could have ever been ready, forever I will treasure the memories, the photos and the time I shared with him.

Pam McClintock once wrote in a touching article about loss; “My dogs…I rejoice in their lives, I grieve at their death. They have enriched my world”. Stoli enriched so many people's worlds, mine especially.

Hearts bring closeness amoung people.. together to lean on one another, together to hold each other up, together to give hope or share sorrow. Stoli's heart was one that brought together people of all kinds from all places. He was here for many; for Tara and Deon, for Ron and Kristie, for Joyce, for me. Stoli touched so many others.

Stoli's incredible strength was a gift he gave to me, a gift I will live with till my own last days.

Softly, I will leave you
Softly, For my heart would break
If you should wake and see me go
So I leave you
Softly

Long before you miss me
Long before your arms
Can beg me stay
For one more hour
Or one more day

After all the years
I can't bear the tears to fall
So softly, As I leave you there
Softly

So softly
As I leave you there
